Books

When I’m not playing with replica air pistols, I’m a full-time professional writer. Mostly I ghost-write non-fiction for clients around the world, but I also get the time to write and publish a few of my own books. Some of them are even about air pistols…

You can use the Amazon “Free Preview” feature to see what’s in these books.

Classic American Air Pistols

I have owned several American air pistols from the “Golden Age” including Crosman revolvers, the Smith & Wesson 78G and the Crosman Mark I. One of things I found frustrating was how difficult it is to find information about these classic air pistols. What was the history of their development? How do they shoot? Are they collectable?

This was the result – it covers ten classic air pistols including what I have been able to find out about their creation as well as guidance on models, production history and shooting these wonderful old pistols. Available as both an ebook and a paperback.

Caring for your Replicas: A guide to cleaning, lubricating and storing replica air pistols

When I started out collecting and shooting replica air pistols, I simply didn’t understand that there were particular requirements for lubrication and care. I certainly realise that using some common oils and lubricating sprays can cause damage to replicas! This is the outcome of my research including talking to some of the people who make a living out of maintaining and repairing replicas and it represents the kind of stuff I would like to have known when I was starting out. Available as both an ebook and a paperback.

Umarex Replica Air Guns 1996 – 2014

Umarex are the largest manufacturers of pellet-shooting and 4.5mm replica air guns. This reference work covers both a history of the company and every Umarex replica gun produced between their first, the Walther CP88 in 1996 and 2014. I was able to work directly with Umarex and spend time in their factory while researching this book. I’d like to do a follow-up to bring things up to date but Umarex no longer seem interested and, without their help, producing a current version seems unlikely. This is available only as a paperback and I’m afraid it is rather expensive due to the use of high-quality, full colour illustrations throughout.
